The author, Christa Wolf was born on March 18,1929 in Landsberg an der Warthe, Germany. She was a German novelist, essayist, and screenwriter. It was not until after 1962 where she became a full-time writer. One of Wolf’s first novels were Moskauer Novelle (Moscow Novella), Der geteilite Himmel (Divided Heaven) along with many other novels shortly after. Christa Wolf published Cassandra in 1983 which is a retelling of the Trojan war as well as other important events during that time which are told from the character Cassandra. This novel was considered a more intense and serious piece of hers. There are many brief summaries that give a general idea about the story.
